FOUNDER

Patrick Colgan, a former youth academy director at Manhattan SC and current Director of Coaching of MSC North, founded the Sharpened Athlete in 2016 with the goal of helping young soccer players reach their full potential. Since then The Sharpened Athlete has helped hundreds of players in their development and soccer journey. Patrick has worked with countless players who have gone on to play for MLS Next sides such as NYCFC and others across the area.

Managing Director

Ben has been a trainer at The Sharpened Athlete since 2021. In his playing career, he captained Mecy Universty to an ECC title, winning Defensive Player of the Year, 1st Team All Conference, and 1st Team All Region. After graduating, Ben transitioned to the other side of the touchline full time, where he spent a year in Indiana working with IndyEleven’s youth academy, as well as using a state of the art facility to train high level youth players to develop their technical, tactical, and cognitive parts of their game. He returns to The Sharpened Athlete as the Managing Director to bring his plethora of playing and coaching experience to our clients.
